Green Beans with Caramelized Onions

Healthy Recipe: Green Beans Caramelized Onions Ingredients:

  • 1 large red onion, cut into ½ inch strips
  • 2 lbs. fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • 4 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • canola oil cooking spray
Preparation:
  • Heat canola oil spray in medium skillet
  • Add onion and sautee on medium/low heat until golden brown (caramelized)
    – stirring frequently for approx 25 min
    – set aside
  • Steam green beans in steamer until crisp / tender – approx 10 min
  • Add green beans and garlic salt to skillet and mix with onions
  • Drizzle with vinegar
  • Serve warm or cold
